Morocco’s Top Waterfalls

1. Ouzoud Falls

Ouzoud Falls are located in the province of Azilal in the Middle Atlas Mountains, 150 km north-east of the city of Marrakech, with a height of 110 meters.  characterized by the region near the mills and valleys springs of the River Obeid. Ouzoud falls for tourists from inside and outside Morocco. The falls are made up of multiple individual waterfalls of varying sizes. It takes about 45 minutes hike to get to the bottom of the falls, passing through orchards, olive and pomegranate trees. You may also encounter the barbary macaque as they come out to get food from visitors.

2Imouzzer falls

Located in southern Morocco about 70 km from Agadir. The area is characterized by its beautiful scenery and its majestic mountains. While the amount of water in the last few years has been decreasing due to drought and human intervention resulting from irrigation control, the journey ,however, is worth it for the tranquility and breathtaking views. The terrain and landscape is not for the unfit as you travel long steep mountainous roads to reach the town. One thing people complain about is the annoying guides, pushy sellers and visitors who come and leave trash behind. Despite the scarcity of water, the green valley, rocky formation and scenic views makes this place worth a visit.

3. Akchour Falls

A pristine natural wonder, Akchour Falls are about 30 kilometers from the charming blue town of Chefchaouen. One of the landmarks in the area is the natural arch which is a natural beauty. The hike to the falls is quite lengthy (4 hours round trip), but the views are spectacular. Akchour waterfalls are popular and are considered one of the area’s most attractive to tourists from both Morocco and abroad.  Several shops and cafes can be found along the way to the falls. Before getting to big falls visitors will cross creeks and rivers multiple times. From time to time you will come across hikers swimming in the many natural pools passing through beautiful landscape. The hike is a challenging one, but a very rewarding one as well.

4. Oum Rabia Falls

located in Khenifra, Oum Rabia Falls are considered one of the less visited in the list. Just as you would find them in other Moroccan Falls. The scenery in Oum Rabia Falls look like what you might find in the canyons of  Arizona or Utah. The rocky landscape and arid environment make the falls an unusual scene since the landscape is a harsh one where one wouldn’t expect any water. The local Berbers have set platforms in both sides of the springs and the creeks.

5. Seti Fatma Falls

Situated in the Ourika valley, the beautiful falls attracts a lot of Moroccans during the summer. The falls are made up of seven falls, and each waterfall becomes more difficult to get to as each one of them is higher up in the mountain . Due to the difficult landscape, most visitors don’t  actually make it the seventh fall. The rocky surfaces and the ascent make the hike to the big falls dangerous and hard, but visitors won’t regret the scenery and smaller cascades they pass by before they makes it to the big falls. Similar to other Moroccan falls, visitors will notice shops and cafes along the way which  makes it even more fun.
